Is it a fast like this which I choose, a day for a man to afflict himself?
Is it for bowing [a]one’s head like a reed
And for spreading out (A)sackcloth and ashes as a bed?
Will you call this a fast, even an (B)acceptable day to Yahweh?

To (C)loosen the bonds of wickedness,
To release the bands of [b]the yoke,
And to (D)let the oppressed go free
And (E)break every [c]yoke?
Is it not to (F)divide your bread [d]with the hungry
And (G)bring the afflicted homeless into the house;
When you see the (H)naked, you cover him;
And not to (I)hide yourself from your own flesh?
